Summer Slide

Teachers, caregivers, and students have worked all school year to learn and gain skills. Summer break can lead to learning loss also known as the summer slide. The Okanagan Regional Library is here to support kids, teens, and caregivers. We want to motivate kids and teens to keep reading and learning this summer! Here are some suggestions:

  • Learning can be fun! Find a topic that interests them and dive in to explore.
  • Celebrate all reading! Comics, recipes, magazines, audiobooks, non-fiction facts all ‘count’ as reading.
  • Spend time outside. Discover and learn by spending time in nature.
  • Check out the local library for free books, services, and activities for all ages. We are a community space that youth are invited to hangout in without spending money!
